  17. It may be the modem(s) at the other end limiting you. I've tried four
  18. brand new V.34 modems -- USR Sportster with latest V.34+ ROM, Teleport
  19. Platinum, PPI Mc288MT-II, and Motorola LifeStyle (and a friend has tried a
  20. fifth, a Supra) -- to get into my ISP at 28.8k but is has never been
  21. (workably) achievable. 26.4k is the usual connection, sometimes lower. 
  22. I'm not sure which brand my ISP uses, unfortunately.
